Is Dr. Broder a Dermatologist?

     Dr Broder is not a Dermatologist nor a Plastic Surgeon. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has diagnosed and treated diseases of the skin for more than 14 years. He also has more than 3 years of additional dedicated surgical training (dermatologists have none). He has extensive training in aesthetic procedures (mostly by and with dermatologists and plastic surgeons) and is more than qualified to provide cosmetic procedures to his patients.  Dr Broder has restricted his practice solely to aesthetics for 2 years. He personally performs most procedures and carefully supervises the services provided by his staff.

     Please note that most cosmetic procedures administered at Dermatologist and Plastic Surgeon offices are often performed by the staff and not by the physician. There are many other 'Medspas' where a medical director is listed but not present. Beware of such offices since procedures are often being performed by non-medical personnel who may be poorly trained. Insist on meeting the doctor(his name and credentials should be visible!) and discussing the procedure with him or her in person. Aestheticians or nurses should not be performing procedures without a physician present. They are practicing medicine without a license and are endangering your safety. Only a properly trained physician can help you decide on the right treatment for you, administer it safely, and treat any possible complications or side effects. Are these procedures safe?

    Every procedure has it's risks and benefits. We only perform those procedures that are safe, clinically proven, and cost-effective. Most of these procedures are performed millions of times a year all over the world. Before having anything done, you will meet with the staff to discuss the procedure and will be provided with an informed-consent that lists any possible complications. We will educate you on what to expect afterwards, and will provide follow-up support both by phone and in-office. We believe that an educated client will insure the best possible outcome.  Beleza Medspa is a fully equipped medical office that can treat any possible side effect or complication.

Do these procedures work?

     Every service we provide is backed by published research and has been selected to produce maximum results. These are medical grade products and procedures that are not available over the counter or at salons. During your consultation, we help you to select the products and services that will give you the results you desire. Botox® is painless and remarkably effective in reducing wrinkles on your brow, forehead, and around your eyes and lips. The fillers we offer almost immediately soften deep-set wrinkles, restore facial volume, and plump lips. Photofacials and the Obagi system remove brown spots and small blood vessels while giving a fresher, and younger appearance. Laser hair removal and sclerotherapy are tried and true methods to deal with unwanted hair and spider veins.  Smartlipo laser liposuction melts fat and tightens skin.  Smartxide DOT therapy can resurface your skin while stimulating new collagen production.

Do these procedures hurt?

     There is some discomfort associated with most procedures and we work hard to minimize any pain you will feel. We use the smallest possible needle to inject Botox (insulin needle) and use topical anesthetics and cold packs. For more invasive procedures, we can perform infiltrative (local) anesthesia as well as nerve blocks. We will not proceed with any procedure unless you feel comfortable.

Are these procedures expensive?

    These are medical procedures performed by medical professionals utilizing expensive equipment and medical-grade products. As a result, there is already a high fixed cost before you are even charged. In comparison to over the counter products and services, our prices are more than fair when you take into consideration that we offer superior results and individualized treatment. We try to stay competitive and frequently offer special prices and discounts for packages. There is no other way to obtain the results we can provide with non-medical procedures and products.

How long do these things last?

     Most of these procedures have limited lifetimes from 3-4 months for Botox®, to 6-12 months for the hyaluronic acid fillers, and 12-18 months for radiesse. Studies have shown when these procedures are done regularly, they can be spaced out even further apart.  SmartLipo and DOT therapy are thought to be permanent!  We help you choose the skin care products to maintain these results.
